Well Versed is built with privacy as a foundational principle. We do not collect, store, sell, or analyze your personal information. We do not display advertisements, operate user trackers, or construct behavioral profiles. Your study notes, highlights, bookmarks, and conversations remain under your control.
1. Information We Do Not Collect
Well Versed does not collect or have access to:
Your name, email address, physical address, or phone number.
Your questions, prayers, or conversation history.
Your religious denomination, spiritual beliefs, or reading habits.
Precise location data, advertising identifiers (IDFA), or device fingerprints.
We operate as a pass-through service. The developer has no server databases tracking your identity or your activity inside the application.
2. Local Device Storage
All reading data and user preferences reside directly in private sandbox storage on your device. We cannot view or access this data:
Scripture Data: Bookmarks, highlights, study notes, and reading position are saved locally in SQLite storage.
Preferences: Your selected translation, denomination perspective, and age mode (child, teen, adult) are stored strictly on your device.
Conversation History: Study discussions and Scripture inquiry threads remain stored locally on your iPhone.
Daily Counters: Daily question counters used to enforce usage quotas are calculated locally on your device.
3. Artificial Intelligence Architecture
Well Versed offers two study intelligence options designed with privacy at every level:
On-Device Apple Intelligence
On supported devices (iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 15 Pro Max, and iPhone 16 series running iOS 18.1 or newer), Scripture analysis can run 100% on-device using Apple Foundation Models. All processing occurs locally on your iPhone's Neural Engine. No text, prompts, or personal information leave your device, and the feature functions entirely offline.
Google Gemini Cloud AI
When using Gemini cloud processing, questions you submit are sent securely via TLS/HTTPS to Google Gemini APIs strictly to generate biblical explanations and study insights. The payload includes:
The text of your question or the selected Scripture verse.
Your age mode selection (child, teen, or adult) to ensure age-appropriate language.
Your denomination selection (e.g., Catholic, Baptist, Orthodox, Non-denominational) to provide faithful historical context.
Recent immediate message context within the active thread to maintain conversational coherence.
This data is processed statelessly in temporary memory. Prompts are not linked to your identity, are not permanently retained by the developer, and are not used to train public AI models.
4. Religious Content & Sensitive Data
Faith questions, prayers, and theological inquiries are deeply personal. We treat all spiritual and religious interactions as sensitive data:
We never compile dossiers, profiles, or categorizations based on your spiritual background.
We do not monetize, rent, or share theological preferences with any marketing networks or third-party brokers.
We do not track which verses or topics you research.
5. Apple Infrastructure & In-App Purchases
Well Versed integrates exclusively with native Apple system services:
StoreKit Subscriptions: Supporter memberships are processed entirely through Apple's In-App Purchase architecture. The developer receives anonymous transaction tokens to validate your subscription tier and never has access to your credit card, billing address, or payment details.
iCloud Sync: If enabled in your device settings, reading preferences and supporter status sync across your personal Apple devices via Apple iCloud Key-Value Store. This data is encrypted and managed through your private Apple account; the developer cannot access it.
6. Children's Privacy
Well Versed offers age-appropriate modes for younger readers. However, we recommend parental supervision for users under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Parents can manage device usage through Apple's built-in Screen Time and Family Sharing controls.
7. Data Control & Deletion
Because your data is stored locally, you maintain complete control:
Clear Chat History: You can purge all conversation history at any time inside the app by visiting Settings → Clear All Chat History.
Complete Data Removal: Deleting the Well Versed app from your iPhone immediately removes all local notes, highlights, bookmarks, and cached files from your device.
